Careers
Join the bench
We employ engineers rather than contracting them per engagement wherever local law allows. That distinction shapes everything below, including what we can honestly promise you.
What we offer
Why engineers stay
A bench held together only by day rates does not stay together, so we do not run one that way.
Employment, not gig work
A contract of employment with continuity between engagements wherever local law allows. You are not off payroll when a client project ends.
Salary reviewed annually
Against the market in your region, not against what we paid you last year. Reviewed on a set date rather than when you ask.
Training budget
An annual allowance for certification, courses and conferences, plus paid study time for certifications relevant to your practice.
Real variety
Client work across banking, retail, public sector and product companies. Most engineers see two or three genuinely different environments a year.
You are interviewed, not sold
We do not put you forward for roles you are not right for to fill a seat. You see the brief before we submit you.
A named manager
Someone at Barton who is responsible for your career rather than only for your utilisation. They are not the person selling you.
Not the right time to move?
Send your details anyway. We keep good engineers in touch and come back when something genuinely fits.
